Hi:) I think you have a good chance of getting into these schools if you pull up your SAT scores into the 2000's, and have your subject tests in the 700's. As well, I would try to participate in more extracurricular activities, possibly more volunteer work, and school clubs.:) Other than that, keep up your grades, and you will definitely get into to some of these schools. Just as a side note, take the ACT, it's soooo much easier than the SAT, and all colleges accept it! x

Moving to Miami Area. Need Advice?

Coral Gables is a really good area. Umm it really all depends on you. After h.s. you can apply to Nova Southeastern. They have a really good dentist program and if u go right after h.s. they r really good w scholarships and very helpful! I think Broward County (just north of Miami dade) is better with jobs and have nice people. You could look in the cooper city area and pembroke pines and miramar area. Cooper City hs is very good (or recently was. i think its still an a or b school but and not positive). Also, Miami lakes (where i just moved from, is very good, close to the places i mentioned, and has catholic churches and schools around). Pembroke pines also has a charter school.

$30 is basically being broke in that store. you're best off looking in the jewelery section of forever 21. there best clothes are usually around $21.50 or so. I went last saturday. so that means you wouldn't have much more money to spend. Save your money up sweetheart, or just get you some jewelery.

How can I hang a wall bracket for a punchbag in the inside of my home?

Hi everyone, I have a problem. I have a spare room in the upstairs of the house where I wanted to hang a wall bracket for my punchbag. The instructions say that I need a 14.5mm(masonry drill bit) a hammer drill, and some 55mm plugs. The idea was to drill the holes in the gable end wall on the inside of the house, but the problem is that there's a thick layer of plaster coating the wall, which crumbles when I drill into it, before you reach the brickwork. Can anyone suggest a way that I can hang the bracket from the wall on the inside of my house? I am stuck, thanks.

Adding power attic ventilation with Cobra vent?

I have an attic space with a bonus room. The room sits under a high-pitched roof and there's a large triangular space above it which ends with an exterior wall. There is a Cobra ridge vent above the room. During the summer, the attic space gets very hot and it's hard to keep the room cool. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to install a gable vent with a thermostatic fan to draw cool air into the space above the room, or would this interfere with the Cobra vent?

How to join roofs with different pitches?

I have a well house with a 5/12 pitch roof (simple gable on each end). I want to put a porch on the side of the well house with the sloped roof. At the intersection of the wall and roof, I will start my porch roof with a 3/12 pitch. So imagine one slope coming down the roof, then leveling off to a slightly less sloped roof the rest of the way (over the porch). How do I do that? Attic fan wiring question!?

I just installed a attic fan, gable-mounted, and the circuit keeps going out as soon as I turn the breaker on. It is on a 15 amp breaker, running 14/2 wire and nothing else is on the circuit. I connected the black to the black/ white-white/ ground to the green screw in the thermostat wired to the fan. Any ideas on why it keeps popping the breaker?

Do not go to a college just because you love the beach. It's very narrow-sighted and it doesn't accomplish very much beyond you wanting to transfer after freshman year. Why? Because nobody should choose a college based on something like "it's located on the beach." You should pick a college based on the college, not simply that it's next to the beach (unless you maybe want to study marine biology).

Why do most Airline pilots need a 4 year college degree?

To be an airline pilot, you should have a 4 year college degree (in any field too). My question is Why would a pilot be required to have this, even if the degree isnt in aviation? Could a pilot be just as successful without a college degree?

If you've known him for 10 years and are comfortable around him then you should just be straight with him and tell him what you're worried about. If other guys have given up on you quickly then you haven't had much time to get used to being with them and be yourself. How can I get my mom to stop spending so much?

My mom loves to shop at re-sale shops and thrift stores, and she finds really neat stuff. But recently I have noticed that the prices have gone up, even at thrift stores! And my mom still buys lots of stuff, and spends $60+ every time she shops, and its killing the pay check my dad works hard all day for, that is supposed to go towards bills and food. The best way to start would be either to join the Air Cadets in your area. Or contact the nearest (small plane) airfield where you can usually get flying lessons. From there, you can get your private licence. And from there you accumulate hours of flying time, then you go from small engines to bigger and bigger planes. A lot of commercial pilots (if not most of them) have gone through the military (Air Force, of course).

virus outbreak movie where the survivors try and get to the helicopter but the pilot gets bit so they head to a boat. There's one guy that injects himself with medicine to keep from turning into a zombie but decides to stay behind to fight zombies after his medicine ran out. When they say be prepared to dance, they are just saying to expect having to dance in front of them, so they will teach you choreography and you will have to do that. I was the same way. I it's like I would have a ton of motivation for a while, lose weight, then lose the motivation after a while and get lazy. You need to find something to movitate you when you, or inspire you. Buy an outfit that you really like in the size that you want to be (or get out an old outfit you can't fit into that you wish to wear again) then when you feel like eating junk food, or not being active, go try and put on that outfit. That usually does it for me and reaffirms my reasoning for wanting to lose weight. Although, you should be losing weight to get healthy and stay happy, which I do, but doing this usually keeps my motivation up. Also, they say it takes 21 days to create a habbit, so just try to be active and eat right for 21 days, then hopefully it will just be a normal routine for you. Good luck!

Attic fan wiring question!?

I just installed a attic fan, gable-mounted, and the circuit keeps going out as soon as I turn the breaker on. It is on a 15 amp breaker, running 14/2 wire and nothing else is on the circuit. I connected the black to the black/ white-white/ ground to the green screw in the thermostat wired to the fan. Any ideas on why it keeps popping the breaker?

My Grandma recently passed away. She was an avid collector of books. I think what I am about to purpose would involve you having to write a bunch more to the story which may not be desired however I must say I really do enjoy your story thus far :). The only thing I could think of for a twist would be that years later after having struggled with her decision for years the mother decides to seek help in a support group for women who adopted out their children. Coral Gables Senior High School?

Coral Gables is bar the best high school ever. I loved going to school there as now I am junior in college and I still think about all my good times there all the time. Its the right size for a high school that you will get to know so many people. Try and get involved in the school as I was apart of Student Activities my senior year and got to go to whole bunch of free events and plus you have a say on what is going on in the school and you get extra tickets usually for graduation. I was involved in cross country track and field and basketball too, running there was one of the best moments of my life as I love to run and our coach Nelson was awsome too. The school is great and I cannot tell you forsure what grade the school is but they do have an IB program which is basically for students who will do alot of work and not so much play. Best 4 years of my life foreal I loved it and wish I could relive my high school experience especially Gables. Go Cavs!!!

What do thrift stores do with unused/unwanted donations?

I have started volunteering at a local Women's Resource Center thrift store. Many of the clothing items are donated (directly to the thrift store) in unsellable condition. These usually get thrown away or put out on the Free Rack. Clothes that have been on the floor for a month or more and have not sold are supposed to go to the free rack, but if there is no room on the rack, they just leave it out on the floor. So then there is no room for the new stuff. This stuff is usually stained or just outdated, some good stuff. They have bag sales every so often and a 3 for $1.00 sale once a month on clothes. How would I go about finding somewhere to re-donste the unsold clothes? They used to give it to a church, but they stopped because the church only wants stuff with no stains. Any advice? What the hell do women see in tall men (who are hardly attractive)?

I acknowledge how certain movie stars, like Gregory Peck, Jeff Goldblum, Anthony Perkins, Clint Eastwood, Ted Danson, Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Clark Gable, Christopher Reeve and, to a lesser extent, Gary Cooper come off as terribly attractive and rugged even if they are rather too tall, gangly, lanky or, in the case of beefy types, imposing. I've found that in real life that tall men just seem so damn awkward and scrawny. Do you mean to tell me that tall guys don't seem too scrawny, dorky and clumsy a lot of times? Women seem so damn shallow even though it's men who should be focused more on looks and sex. I think women are getting to be immoral bitches who look down on short men. Actually, there are plenty of shorter men in real life but the media would have you believe that guys are, uh, at least six inches taller than women. Sometimes, I don't know what women see in men at all. Men look like stupid beasts, especially when they have facial hair. Furthermore, they often have bird legs and, in the case of fatter men, their guts are too big for their bodies. I also think a lot of men exaggerate their height. Women stopped wearing high heels frequently, while men continue to do so. At any event, most tall men are ugly from what I've seen. Tall soldiers and cops aren't so ugly, mind. Perhaps it's an ego thing. For women. They want to see who can date the tallest men. Unfortunately, tall men are enormously more likely than shorter guys to be seen with a chick and that's a bloody fact.

Too old for USAF & Flight School?

I'm 22, recently decided to buckle down with college and will have my AA in a month or so. I've wanted to be a pilot since I was 6 and learned that my grandfather was a mechanic and worked on p-51 mustangs. However like most dreams we have as children that seems to be a ridiculous idea as you grow older. This one has kind of always stuck with me in some way and I'm starting to think about it a lot recently. I understand that only a VERY select few become fighter pilots, while other end up flying cargo or fuel. Thrift stores and Cragslist are great for baby stuff, just make sure it isn't recalled. The only thing I would spend on, is the baby sling/carrier. You can find many in thrift stores, but most are WalMart/Sears/ and that type of store junk slings that are unsafe or uncomfortable. Look at baby wearing websites for ideas on a good carrier. I have a Slingling pouch, and a ring-sling from a href="http://www.attachedtobaby.com/" rel="nofollow"http://www.attachedtobaby.com//a and don't fall for the Seven Sling 'free sling, just pay shipping'. Baby wear-ers have been giving this sling poor reviews. As for car seats, are you going straight for a convertible seat from birth? (the Cosco Scenera is great, and will last you about 4 years for under $40 at WalMart). Or do you want to bother with an infant seat (that lasts less than a year)? As for a stroller, you can find these without the infant seat, as long as it reclines you can use it for a young baby. Bedding; sheets, a mattress protector (if you go WalMart, pay the extra $2 and get the Sealy brand, not the WalMart one. much nicer) , and a not-to-thick blanket. For chilly days use a blanket sleeper. And check into those swaddling blankets. Our lil guy lived in his! This was the only way we could get him to sleep.

Why does my brother get so much more than me?

I know he's older, and i'm happy with what I have, but it seems that whenever I ask for something my mom views me as "spoiled, with an entitled attitude" yet if my brother asks for something it's almost as if he desperately needs it. Here's my situation. I currently have 401K with my job. I work for the Government so its called Thrift Savings Plan. I contribute 5% of my earnings each pay period and they match 5% each pay period. My wife job automatically takes 3% out each pay period whether she matches or not. We are looking at investing options. Where should I go to college for premed between LSU, University of Alabama, and U of Miami?

I live in state for Louisiana State University, so I have tuition and an extra $400 covered. I also received a $2000 scholarship to LSU. I have grown up loving LSU, and I know it well. I also recently went to their Spring Invitational program in which I received 30 hours of credit already. On the other hand, the University of Alabama seems more committed to me as an individual and I have received the Presidential Scholarship there due to my earning National Merit Finalist. It is about 6 hours away from home though and in actuality it is bigger than LSU. I just felt that its honors college was more dedicated to me. Also, I have heard that its premed program is a top notch program. Finally, the University of Miami is in beautiful Coral Gables. I like the fact that almost everyone goes there not knowing anyone(meaning that no one is really an outsider or "new"). Also, it is a much smaller school, allowing for smaller classes (11:1 student: teacher ratio). However, it will cost a bit more to go here. I received the University Scholarship for $24000 but its still a bit more than that to go here. I honestly am so confused. I have no clue which school is "the best fit for me" or the school that "will make me the happiest." Since I have until May 1 to decide, I'm freaking out...a lot. Please help with any and all information you can.

I told my Uncle about how Captain "Sully" Sullenberger was speaking out about how everyone's pay had been cut in recent years. I want to be a fighter jet, iv been wanting to do this since I was maybe 7 years old. I kind have forgot about it until now. I know its very hard to become one. I know I have to be very smart and have really good grades. I haven't done well in school manly cause I didn't care enough for school. I just turned 18 and graduated hs. My grades are not that great(except for science which I did good in). Should I still go for it? Can I still become one even though I messed up in the past? What branch of the military is right for me?

I am a 15 year old female and of course thinking about my future. I plan on going to college for two years and then enlisting in the U.S military. My problem is that i do not know what branch i want to join. I want to be a pilot, I am in Civil Air Patrol and that is helping me to get closer to that goal. I know that the Air Force is the obvious branch to go into if i want to be a pilot but i don't really want to go into the AF. Getting started as a pilot?

Yes, start with a PPL. I don't recommend a degree in aeronautics (professional piloting) because if you cannot fly for some reason (health, family, personal reasons etc) it is a useless degree for finding decent employment. At only 5'2', you aren't a military pilot candidate, therefore you'll have to go the expensive civilian route. Start with getting your PPL then go from there. There are many books and websites on how to become a professional pilot, but you need an idea of what type of pilot you want to be.

Intermittent spark ignition systems for restaurant cooking equipment?

I am working on a Blodgett convection oven (propane) which is equipped with a Johnson Controls G770 type spark controller. My problem is that after the pilot flame is detected and the main burner solenoid valve is energized the main burner lights for about a second and then both the pilot flame and the main burner flame are extinguished. The ignition system then recycles with the same result, ultimately going into lockout. Replacing the control yields the same result so I have discounted the possibility of it being at fault. Any suggestions? The factory offers no viable solutions.

The Gables is very nice but very expensive -- think Beverly Hills -- and not very convenient to any Miami-Dade College campuses. Miami-Dade's largest campus is just south of Kendall Drive, between SW 107th & 112th Avenues, right in the middle of the sprawling southwestern suburb of Kendall. Kendall is safe, reasonably quiet & has loads of apartments & condos for rent. It also has good access to the more exciting areas of downtown & Miami Beach. But you really need a car.

2005 Honda Pilot GPS Navagation Problems?

Whole house fans, sizing and placement?

I think the whole house fan could be a good idea but there could be some problems because of it. The air that is exhausted by the fan has to be replaced by another air source which would be outside air. You live in an area that has very hot weather and if the fan is used during the day, your house will get hotter. A better approach would be to ventilate the attic only. I am sure that the attic or roof space could easily reach 140 during the day. This temperature would not only cause heat be transferred through the ceiling into the living space but will also allow radiant heat to go into the rooms. Ventilating the attic space will not only lower your A/C costs, but will extend the life of your roof.

Finding my style! Tired of being a copycat!?

I think it's all about wearing what your most comfortable in, that being said, you can take the latest trends and put your spin on it. You said your a tomboy, so you can kinda put that into what's in style now and not come off as one of those teen girls that try to be rockerish/scene too hard but come off looking like a basic "beach".lol. I love forever 21 because they have a million things there and it's so cheap! It's summer time so you can always wear denim bermudas or shorts with a tank and wear a headband. Rompers are very in, and their so comfortable, you could wear that. I think you can maybe go for a hipster-ish look, it's very laid back and easy, and looks effortless. You can pretty much take any piece of clothing and put a sort of tomboyish/hipster twist on it while making it look feminine.

Coral Gables is a really good area. Umm it really all depends on you. After h.s. you can apply to Nova Southeastern. They have a really good dentist program and if u go right after h.s. they r really good w scholarships and very helpful! I think Broward County (just north of Miami dade) is better with jobs and have nice people. You could look in the cooper city area and pembroke pines and miramar area. Cooper City hs is very good (or recently was. i think its still an a or b school but and not positive). Also, Miami lakes (where i just moved from, is very good, close to the places i mentioned, and has catholic churches and schools around). Pembroke pines also has a charter school.

I have these black high heeled peep-toe pumps. I wear them around the house a lot because I'm trying to get used to wearing heels so they don't hurt when I wear them out. They're stilettos and the bottom of the heel is really frayed and worn out. Today I noticed a tiny tear along the edge of the shoe, one that was very small now but had definite potential for becoming significant. I put a few stitches in it to stop it from getting bigger but I also noticed the edge was becoming chipped and the shoe itself was pretty worn out. These are my only pair of heels and i need them for a Halloween costume, which is why I'm trying to get used to them, and they can't be worn out before October. I come to find that smoking has not affected any of my learning abilities as my grades demonstrated. At that school, we had to read a certain number of specially marked books and then take a multiple choice quiz on the computer so the teacher knew that we read and understood it. Anne of Green Gables was one of the books that had a test for it so I figured since I'd already read it, why not take the test just to get one out of the way. I did well on the test, somewhere between 80 and 90%, yet later, my teacher called me over to her desk and said that Anne of Green Gables was a grade 8 level book and forbid me to borrow anything over a grade 3 level. so I was stuck reading Pony Pals and Animal Ark for the rest of the year. Does this seem reasonable to you? Can you think of any reason why she might have done this? I know this seems silly because it was ages ago (I'm in grade 11 now), but that ruined my year...well, that and the fact that I got a deadly disease and had to spend a week at a hospital in another city...but still. I went home and cried that night because I'd gotten in trouble for something i didn't even know was something I wasn't supposed to do and I wasn't allowed to read the books I wanted to anymore.
