Good quality cameras for photography?

I need a good quality camera just for taking beautiful photography, well I mean an excellent quality camera. I really like the old polaroid camera's but they aren't selling anymore. I know they can be sold in thrift stores but I'm really not that desperate for one. I wouldn't mind getting a new very high quality camera, and it needs to take HD photo's that I can download onto my computer, and i would also like for it to take videos. I would love for the camera not to be too expensive, but I know very well that good quality camera's do not come cheap! My friend told me that the camera should be around 1000 dollars maybe more, as well as the lens. I would like to get it cheaper, but I'm willing to spend some money for it.
