Were there at least SOME U.S. Women who served in the army in WWII?

I don't know why, but its bugging me. I was watching Combat! and i thought about it. Were there at least SOME women who actually fought in WWII? In the USA? Not as nurses, radio people, or pilots and what not, but did SOME actually go out with a gun and fight? Even as a sniper in the US? Anyone know? I like learning about the army and WWII and just realllllyyyy want to know. Thanks
