Settings for sherlock holmes books?

Many of the place names in the Sherlock Holmes stories were fictitious, and there were never any specific addresses given. For example, there was no 221b Baker Street. There is no Boscombe Valley. Most people agree that 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' and 'Silver Blaze' were set near Dartmoor. Many of the street names and cities mentioned are real ones but very few details are ever given. The University town in 'The Adventure of the Creeping Man' was given as Camford (would that be Cambridge or Oxford?). You may find the link below very interesting.
